LCU has been in existence since 1975 through the efforts of Dr. Douglas Wingate and his wife, Susan. Today, LCU has grown to become a thriving Christian-centered university with over 120 campuses across the United States and around the world.
Life Christian University Beliefs
LCU believes in the Word of God and that every Christian individual should be spiritually prepared before pursuing their ministry. The institution teaches its students to focus on their faith and to study the Bible to learn how to receive God’s blessings in their life. Learners are encouraged to develop a Christ-like character to enjoy peace, divine healing, a healthy body, and divine prosperity.
The main campus of Life Christian University is located in Lutz, Florida, a suburb area of Tampa. It was opened in 1975 and is fast gaining a reputation as one of the leading ministry universities worldwide. It has campuses in 28 states of the U.S. and 9 foreign countries including Australia, New Zealand, Guyana, India, Poland, Puerto Rico, Trinidad, the United Arab Emirates, and Zimbabwe.
LCU has a low tuition philosophy, believing that quality and spiritual education should be provided to students without letting them face financial debt. For a full year of undergraduate study, the cost is $1,440 which is payable in nine installments. This includes both tuition and books.
This Christian university offers military and family discounts to make college education even more affordable to students. LCU has a “pay-as-you-go” program that enables students to make monthly tuition payments as they focus on and complete a single course each month.
LCU has more than 2,000 students enrolled in its various campus. With more than 120 campuses in the U.S. and abroad, it has graduated almost 17,500 students.
Academic Areas of Study
LCU offers associate, bachelor, master’s and doctorate degrees as well as diploma programs online. These include the diploma in theology, associate degree in theology, advanced diploma in theology, bachelor’s degree in theology as well as in pastoral ministry.
Specialized bachelor degrees in Christian education are also available. The master’s and doctorate degrees are available in theology and pastoral ministry.
Theology programs are offered on other campuses situated at local churches around the world. Some of these local campuses also offer specialized bachelor’s degrees in Christian Counseling.
Life Christian University obtained its accreditation from the Accrediting Commission International (ACI). This commission accredits Biblical theological institutions, seminaries, colleges and universities worldwide that are not affiliated with the government. Although the accreditation is not recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, it is acknowledged by churches and ministry organizations. Life Christian University has fulfilled rigorous educational requirements in their determination to acquire and maintain a quality educational program. LCU is a state-authorized school, having fully met and exceeded the requirements of Florida state law. Additionally, in each of the many states where LCU has campuses, they have met and exceeded the requirements of their State Departments of Education as well.
Life Christian University Athletics
This university has no athletic program. It is primarily focused on the spiritual growth of each student through biblically-based studies.
